The DC Zombie Crawl is being put on as a toy drive/ fundraiser for Toys For Tots. Why would Zombies put on an event to get toys for needy children? Well the answer is two fold. First off, us zombies aren’t brain dead like the movies portray us. We read, and watch the news just like the living. We noticed that other feared, misunderstood groups, such as outlaw motorcycle clubs have been doing Toys For Tots drives for years and have somewhat changed the public perception on them by doing so. Us zombies would like to be viewed in a better light as well. The second part, and the part that we probably shouldn’t let the media know about, is the fact that kids with toys are happy kids. Happy kids are hungry kids. Hungry kids grow into fat adults, and fat adults make BIG tasty meals for us zombies.
The Zombie Crawl will take place on Saturday, December 19th, and will begin at the national mall at 6pm, in front of the Washington Monument. All participants will bring a toy for Toys For Tots and that will be their entrance fee. For this donation they will receive a bracelet which will get them into the after parties, discounts at several businesses and a goodie bag from our sponsors. If you want your makeup done by one of the professionals they can do it for you at a nominal cost, all of the proceeds from which will go to Toys For Tots.
There will be two hordes of zombies, the sober zombies and the drunken zombies. Both hordes will start together in the national mall, then after a bit of terrorizing tourists the two hordes will go their separate ways.
The sober zombie horde is an all ages group which will end up in a family friendly after party at The Church of the Pilgrim. Food and drink will be provided, a costume contest will be held and fun will be had by all.
The drunken zombies will head to Adam’s Morgan where 12 bars (with more expected to join) are offering free cover charge and various drink and food discounts and there will be a costume contest/ awards show at Asylum as well. As an added perk, The Churchill Hotel is offering discount room rates for our participants.
