F.A.Q
What kind of toy should I bring to donate?
Toys For Tots request new, unopened, unwrapped presents for children up to 17 years of age, preferably valued at $10 and up. There are a few types of toys NOT allowed such as: toys with military theme, toys related to weapons/law enforcement, toys with candy. Also, please, no chemicals (i.e. experimental labs, acid, crystal projects, etc.). These are Toys For Tots rules, not ours, please follow them so we can continue working with this great cause.
How can I help?
This event is a HUGE undertaking and we will gladly find roles for any willing volunteers/ sponsors. Please check our “Want to help?” page as well as our forums for ways to help, or email us. dczombiecrawl@whatwouldseando.com
Who all can come to DC/ZC?
DC/ZC is open to anyone and everyone. All ages are welcome and we have family friendly after party activities planned for people who do not want to (or are too young to) go to the bars in Adam’s Morgan.
What are the rules of conduct?
The rules are simple, first and foremost DO NOT TOUCH ANYONE not participating in DC/ZC. We are going to be a shocking sight as is, we can not cause any additional disturbance. Basically, obey all the usual laws (including jay walking), and use a little common sense and common courtesy. We will go over all the rules after registration as a group.
How do I get to the meeting spot?
Well, you can drive or walk to the corner of Constitution Ave and 15th, or metro to the Smithsonian stop. Either way walk towards the large white stick in the ground (the Washington Monument) until you are greeted by an army of the undead. UPDATE: Our permit places us at the corner of 15th and Constitution, so look for us there!
Why should I bring a toy, what’s in it for me?
You should bring a toy because there are needy children who will value that toy far more than you could possibly value the wee bit of cash you spent on it. However, if being a decent human being isn’t a good enough incentive all participants who bring a toy will receive a wrist band and program. The wrist band will get them discounts at participating bars and restaurants and into the after parties and contest. The programs will contain gifts and specials from local businesses. All of these perks are being donated by local businesses as a thank you to you for doing something you should be happy to do just for good karma.
If I partake in one too many adult beverages and don’t want to drive, what are my options?
First off , we will be including this number in the DC/ZC programs, but just to let everyone know during the holiday season in DC, from 10pm-6am you can get a FREE cab ride (up to $50) by calling (800) 200-TAXI (8294). If your travels exceed 50 bucks you just pay the overage cost. An even better option, get a room at the SUPER NICE Church Hill Hotel in Adam’s Morgan for only $99 for a kIng bed or $109 for 2 double beds! This price is good for our participants by using the code word “zombie”.
